Last Show For A While

February 17, 2008

This is it, folks. The show of the decade. Heck, the way this century is going, the show of the century. We’re taking a break soon for motherhood and distant travel, but before we do, we are going to rock Cake Shop in a legendary way.

Saturday, March 1

Cake Shop

The New York Times’ effect on man

February 11, 2008

The New York Times said Fur Cups For Teeth is “about to be big.”

Check out pics of our voodoo priestess costumes — as well as great shots of the Dead Betties and Black Tie Party — at Cake Shop on the blog of the inimitable Jackie Roman.

Historic Show

December 31, 2007

For four years, the Fur Cups and the Dead Betties have shared the ferocious talents of Derek Pippin on the drums. During this time, we all became really good friends. Yet bizarrely we’ve never played a show together. . . until now.

Saturday, January 5 at Cake Shop

Fake Hooker, Winning Looks, Fur Cups For Teeth, The Dead Betties, The Black Tie Party

Hot Wax!!!

November 12, 2007

Our second album, “Fun Luck You Keep,” is out now!

It’s a double album, recorded in two parts: The rock disk was recorded by Chris Coady, who has recorded Yeah Yeah Yeahs, !!!, TV on the Radio, Cat Power, David Bowie, and The Stooges. The dance disk was recorded by Hillary Johnson, who was in Crowns on 45, and has recorded Bush Tetras, Bonfire Madigan, and Tribe 8. They were brought together with the mastering prowess of Jen Munson and the postmodern vision of Jason of Enamel Design.

Some press about it:

“Exemplary local electropop trio Fur Cups For Teeth celebrates the release of its second record, Fun Luck You Keep. Its stylish, ruthlessly catch new stuff suggests Sleater-Kinney gone girl-group.” – Time Out New York

“Part vacuum-pushing pep squad, part women’s studies posse, Fur Cups for Teeth are foot soldiers in the dance revolution. From the absurdist manifesto “Boxed Lunch” to the dubby, Simon-sampling “Christmas Presence,” last year’s self-released Allergic 2 Fur mixes electro and rock with aplomb. For their next trick, they’ve replaced the canned beats with Dead Betties drummer Derek Pippin. The new tracks split the difference in styles, with the pro-Bouvier “Edie Idol” in the electro category and the anti-Bush “Ce Soir” in the rock pile. – Philadelphia City Paper
